Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I know that Apple might be considered a "luxury" store, but in some ways I think it straddled the line between luxury and actual, useful retail! Sure, you probably aren't going to an Apple store on a fairly regular basis. But I know I found it handy for the times I had an issue with my Ma...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Luxury retail in general is in trouble. It was kind of cool having a little cluster of nice shops there--felt very cosmopolitan, but honestly how many times does a person need to visit an Apple store or a North Face store? And how many of the dollars spent there stay in the neighborhood, or even th...

Re: 1724-1728 Nicollet
Great news. It's nice to see more new construction in this area. Loring/Stevens are still nice neighborhoods, despite the recent shootings in the area. I really hope the strip mall with the huge surface parking lot is redeveloped, as well as the one story buil ding further down on the other side of ...

Re: Thrivent HQ & Sherman apartments - 500 7th St S
Or the city could have said the proposal on the backside of the building with twice as much parking as housing is crap go try again but that ship has sailed. And yes I know Thrivent demand those spots which isn't the problem the problem is how bland and unimaginative the surrounding apartment build...

Great shot. I really like how Thrivent's new HQ turned out. I didn't realize there was a ramp leading to underground parking.
Wish Hennepin County would do something with the exterior back side of Thrivent's old building. At least paint it so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Holiday Lighting - any news if the DID/city are going to up lighting this year? There were numerous complaints the last few years about no lighting on the trees. I had contacted DID myself and they said the didn't have the ability to put up lighting - no outlets in the bedding areas. Now that they ...

Park Laurel Building
Just wondering if anyone has any news on this building by Laurel Village. I posted an old article from the Star Tribune when the last former tenants were forced to move and the building was condemned. https://www.startribune.com/last-tenants-are-forced-out-at-park-laurel-in-minneapolis/418583893/ Wh...

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks
but damn it would have been nice to see food trucks lined up along Main Street and at each end of the Stone Arch Bridge. This also brings into question why there's no convenience store in St. Anthony Main. Rent too high? 7/11 where you at? Would be great to have something along Main Street with all...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
If paying employees some arbitrary figure that is more than what their labor is worth made good business sense companies would be doing so without government making them. Now if you're a poor person in say Hopkins rather than drive your $1000 car to Wayzata and park for free, now you have to pay to...

Re: Dinkytown
Just a general question/statement - all of the new buildings that have gone up or are proposed for Dinkytown and around the UofM include great street-level retail - smaller spaces - that get quickly filled up by quick and go restaurants, etc. Now why can't developers do the same for downtown Minneap...

Are there any fountains left inside any buildings that have moving water besides infinity pools like this or the Govt Center? I remember as a kid there were more and I loved seeing them. The Fountain at the IDS was always one of my favorites. There was a really lovely one in Lasalle Plaza. Not sure...

Re: Duluth - General Topics
I recently stayed at the Park Point Marina Hotel and found myself wondering once again why there has not been more development on the Duluth harbor front. The Lakeshore hotels manage to stay busy well beyond the summer high season. The one new development on the west end of the harbor is the nicely...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction
City works closed a while back. I think its much improved even if there are still issues with the design. I do like it better then Nicollet mall and it should help improve the street life immensely. Even the 8th street reconstruction has helped the walking experience downtown. I agree 100 percent. ...
