Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
I had no idea about this. DeAngulo’s company, Elion Partners, plans to build three to five office towers where State Farm stood. “It could vary depending on what the market brings,” he said. No specific tenants have been named. http://www.startribune.com/state-farm-era-ends-in-woodbury-as-cavernous-...

Re: "City" "Place" - Woodbury
Not much left. Seems weird driving by, though the new hotel is rather large but sits well below where the office building was.

Re: Lake & Fremont Apartments (Cheapo site) - 1300 West Lake
It's funny the size and scope of all the development in the Wedge, both along the greenway and the north side of Lake St, yet CARAG with the south side of Lake is the complete opposite. I do realize that there are some reasons for this but it's bordering ridiculous.

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
Well thought out response Thatch. This guy was raised in CARAG, was on the CARAG Board as a senior in High School. went to the UofM and worked for a prominent developer and last I knew was raising his family in CARAG as well. Before the internet became all the rage, Thatcher's dad was often seen to ...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Everyone remember when Ventura became Governor and neither the Democrats or the Republicans supported him. On the national picture the last seven years have shown just how well the Republicans have wanted to work with a black man. Now if Bernie somehow manages to get the Democratic ticket, I think y...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
When I was on the CARAG Board in the 90's and prior to 2005, the CM always went with the neighborhood. That's not to say they might oppose a decision and even at times there might be a more wider neighborhood vote. A prime example was when the City of Lake Bank wanted to build their drive thru on th...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
Having owned a house on 31st west of Emerson and having been on the CARAG Board for I believe 7 years, over 10 years ago. The one thing your neglecting to look at in regards to the various heights of nearby buildings, is they are all north of Lake. This hotel proposal just happens to be south. Anyon...

Re: Calhoun Square
I remember a pedestrian bridge in Okinawa bit off the back gate of Kadena AB at a major intersecion (very much busier than Heen/Lake). The bridge went over all 4 streets at the intersection in a square with stairs at each corner. It was widely used and save a lot of time verses having to wait at the...

Re: Calhoun Square
That may be so but my issue is with this intersection. That corner entrance was like a big welcome to Uptown.THe inviting entrance is now by the Kitchen Window and the Coffee shop. That is the open and spacious entrance.

I agree. The old format to me was the front door for Uptown. Now it lacks the openess to both those outside and to beckon those inside.

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
I went to the monthly CARAG meeting last night, where there was a 45 min presentation and discussion of the new hotel. Many positives and negatives were brought up, but much of the discussion revolved around scale. The developer seemed to pick certain phrases from the Uptown Small Area Plan which s...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
Ha I was just remembering the last time I talked to the people in the house just south of this proposal, over 20 years ago, there were a wide variety of ages of people living here, with an old woman owning it. I think she owned it. I was the one getting the neighbors in the area to sign for that fir...

Is the Macy's building worth saving in the long run, assuming Macy's downsizes or leaves. Would make a prime location for a future tallest in the city.

$17 million dollar profit in 2 years, not bad. I don't recall them doing any special remodeling either.
