Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Maybe they figure that after all of this kerfuffle over the Kenilworth corridor that more people will want to use it!
But yeah with most traffic going straight on the Greenway seems a little strange. All that intersection needs is a little more visibility coming off of Kenilworth.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Why are we reinforcing the faux prairie area anyhow? It's sucks to bike. Sun and usually ridiculous winds. Was likely woods and wetlands before it was 54 flippin train tracks.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Tbh, I would be okay with having bike roundabouts at both the Greenway and Cedar Lake intersections.

I have had the same thought for years. That particular stretch is pretty awful to bike. It's sucks to bike. Sun and usually ridiculous winds. Was likely woods and wetlands before it was 54 flippin train tracks.

Ah, summer cycling uses, clearly. In the winter I love running this stretch because it's sunny and relatively dry while most everything else isn't.I have had the same thought for years. Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
So they get a big fancy parking ramp and wood paneling while the rest of us wait shivering in the cold? Nice.
Seriously those renderings look like a hotel lobby not a transit center. The disparity between that and urban amenities is striking. The main downtown station on nicollet barely has any shelter from the elements.

The December 2015 newsletter is out. A bunch of sketches of sites in this. Notes prep work to begin 2016 fall.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I think the newsletter's main headline is worth repeating here: 80% of the local funding has been lined up, but another $135 million needs to be allocated from local/state sources before the FTA will pay out their share. This will be something to keep an eye on for the 2016 legislative session.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
hopefully the billion+ surplus helps - but I have a feeling that the MNGOP are gunning for this... they are still saying they won't move into the new Senate Office Building... they are overwhelmingly anti-urban / anti-transit.

Don't worry. The Itasca Group's got this.

That picture is just rich. Pure gold.
Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
“It appears the Met Council is stonewalling,” said LPA spokeswoman Mary Pattock. “It makes us wonder what they have to hide.”
And someone uses the term "Met Kremlin" in the comments.
Garbage.
Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
It is amazing how much "anti" is poisoning our culture... The Met Council has made an enormous, positive contribution to our metropolitan area... reckless development and extraordinarily poor planning has created staggering problems for other cities... Our "anti" everything sentiment is about destroying any and all things intelligent. I no longer read the comment sections in the paper... pathetic.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
A bit of 'anti', a bit of 'the customer is always right', a bit of 'if I can't understand it, it must be a conspiracy'...
There are a lot of toxic attitudes that are poisoning our culture, and the lucky Met Council seems to be the target of all of them.
