I think they poured all their budget into the ground floor. It's nice to walk past! Good use of materials, well lit, good overhang.

I will agree that the street level has high quality materials! The 4th side is a bit eh, but there is real stone. It just then shows how bad the rest is. Lol. Oh well.

Also they were digging up a big trench for some plantings today

The AC Hotel website lets you reserve rooms at the Downtown Minneapolis location starting November 18th. I'm not sure if that's the actual planned opening date, or if that's just when they're absolutely certain they'll be done and and it might open before then.

But when will the AC Marriott football team play their first match?
Re: AC Marriott Hotel (401 Hennepin Ave / Andrews Hotel site)
For what little it’s worth, I’ve been getting emails from them saying they open in October. So maybe they’re only taking bookings far enough out in case something unforeseen happens and they’re delayed? The AC Hotel website lets you reserve rooms at the Downtown Minneapolis location starting November 18th. Late addition to tonight's DMNA LUC agenda: "AC Hotel Expansion of Premises application presented by Tiffany Zimmer"
Intriguing.

I mean, aren't they pretty well hemmed in by the Lumber Exchange building and the parking ramp? Please let this be a proposal to demo that ramp...
Re: AC Marriott Hotel - 401 Hennepin Ave (Andrews Hotel site)
Yeah, I don't see where else they could go besides that, except up. Hey, maybe this the part where they build the missing 51 stories?

Not saying this is necessarily what it is, but don't things like sidewalk cafes fall under an "expansion of premises"? So it could be something very minor.

That would still be a welcome addition
Re: AC Marriott Hotel - 401 Hennepin Ave (Andrews Hotel site)
Yeah, I'm fairly certain that the "expansion of premises" has to do with extending the area where liquor service is permitted, not really with a building addition.
Re: AC Marriott Hotel - 401 Hennepin Ave (Andrews Hotel site)
Nailed it. They'd like to expand their liquor license to the courtyard to use it as an outdoor event space.
