Re: Mozaic (all phases)
I love all these new colors that you're seeing on buildings. I think it really adds to a neighborhood. Even if you have buildings that are all the same Boxee squares, having them have a variety of colors on the siding looks really good. No, different color scheme. They said they're going with some color shifting metal that was "lavender" in the renderings, but at least in the angle that rendering is, there's going to be far more glass than there is in that rendering.
And yeah Hennepin County loves that orange metal, they did it on both HCMC and the South Side Service Center at Hi-Lake.

If that is indeed a current rendering, I love it. All the glass facing the Greenway is beautiful. I am super excited about this development.

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
That's not an updated rendering. Unless they completely redesigned the project in the past 6 days, that looks nothing like what they presented to us.

It does however look like what was at the Wedge annual meeting.

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
I'm honestly a little confused about their process here. They seemed to imply (but did not explicitly state) that they had already taken the plans before the Planning Commission Committee of the Whole, but I could find no such plans. But they were stating that they were going before the full Planning Commission on May 22, so maybe they're going to CoW tomorrow?
I'm going to be watching this closely to make sure that the plans that go before CPC on the 22nd match what they showed us, because those are the plans the Midtown Greenway Coalition based their support on.

This is all very strange. The Wedge annual meeting was about three weeks ago. When did they present to MGC?

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
Yup that's what we saw last Thursday.
Re: Mozaic (all phases)
What direction is that supposed to be from? Is the long side the one facing the Greenway?

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
That is looking at the north west corner of the building, so facing south east.
The earlier renderings are looking from the greenway but looking west instead of east.
E: Yes, long side is facing the greenway

Huh. I think I like it better but I'm not sure. The corners are less interesting but I think the proportions are better.
Where are the much-debated, controversial retail bays going?

Basically all the first floor you can see in that picture (part of it us going to be enclosed bike parking)
Re: Mozaic (all phases)
I hate it. Miami Vice vibe.
Re: Mozaic (all phases)
Does anyone remember that Miami Vice themed bar in Uptown about 10 years ago? Each drink was a quote from Scarface or Miami Vice. Maybe that can come back in this building!
Anyways, I actually like this better, but I wish the white material on the right was different.

Re: Mozaic (all phases)
The white material on the southwest side looks like a match for the material used on the parking ramp. Can't imagine that getting much praise from people on this board (including me) once it starts going up. If Opus is constructing this, then it would fit perfectly with their (lack of) style. I do think the north side of this new design, however, looks okay.

I remember that place. They had phones at each table to place your order, Scarface DVD on loop. The bathrooms on Friday and Saturday nights were very 1980s Miami.
Re: Mozaic (all phases)
I have a hard time seeing retail doing well facing the Greenway. The two blocks of 29th to the east are essentially an alley for Cub and Planned Parenthood. Not much traffic going through there....Basically all the first floor you can see in that picture (part of it us going to be enclosed bike parking)
Just my gut... Hope I'm wrong.
