South Minneapolis restaurant site to be redeveloped into apartments with almost no parking
*LOCKED*
Business Journal's take on the Finance & Commerce article...
Minneapolis-based North Bay Cos. said in city documents that it will demolish the restaurant to make way for a five-story building filled exclusively with micro apartments and 4,200 square feet of retail space. All of the units range from 383 square feet and 431 square feet.
The project includes just 16 surface parking stalls.
Los Ocampo has already closed. The location has been removed from the company website and its phone line doesn’t work.
The property is owned by an entity tied to John Wolf, who also owns the next-door Chicago Lake Liquors. The liquor store would not be affected by the development, according to site plans.

I'll be really fascinated to see what these units rent for. They're small, the location isn't trendy, and the building is being built with no structured parking. This should be a good test of just how affordable market rate housing can be in the MSP urban core market.

Noticed while passing it this morning that there's a "coming soon" sign for a new brewery in the old Harriet Brewing space on Minnehaha. Can't remember the name, though.

Awesome. Nice to see some new density in Stevens Square (I guess technically Loring Heights, but who's counting?)

Anyone know what is going in on the northwest corner of 35th & Grand? It appears there is a foundation being poured. Fourplex?
