LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
yeah that was from the 5th floor of the T building at MCTC. I would kill for an apartment with a view like that!
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
For a fun comparison, here's an article about the two out-of-state projects Magellan is working on:

We've got our 354 unit project, the one in Nashville is 300+. Minneapolis parking spaces: 289. Nashville parking spaces: 500+. Next time we complain about not being Portland...

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
My thinking is LPM is more geared towards an urban lifestyle you might find in downtown Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, etc. It says a lot about the maturity of our city and its transition away from a completely automobile oriented culture (at least in the urban core). Magellan undoubtedly recognizes that about our city. Doesn't sound like Nashville is anywhere near Minneapolis in that respect.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
One reason for less parking is because of the parking ramp kitty corner to it. Plus I think they had to build part of the garage with the option to install the double decker parking things (technical term). I know it was an issue that had to be worked out.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
They build parking because they have the space to do so and they do understand that people still use cars. But like its an option of having a parking spot, you don't have to put a car in it.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Yes, I remember there were some alternate parking arrangements made for tenants with two cars. However, I still think there is an assumption that some residents will not have cars. It would be interesting to know actual Magellan's apartment/car stalls in some of their projects in downtown Chicago compared to either LPM or its Nashville project. One reason for less parking is because of the parking ramp kitty corner to it. Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Ironically Nashville abolished downtown parking minimums last year ... So this might actually be their market driven estimate of demand.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
SoBro may be the worst project name ever.
EVER.
EVER.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
So-Bro, the opposite of Hipster.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Strange name- but a nice tower though. 4 stories less than LPM but over 20, taller.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I would assume is might be like, South of Broadway or something like that. Like SoHo is south of Howard in Manhattan .
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I've no doubt there's a clever reason for the name, but that doesn't make it a good name.
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I guess it is better than SoBruh.

Or the rejected SupBrah.

It's located in the "South of Broadway" district, so it's supposed to be short for that. Whoops.

South of Houston. Pronounced "House-ton" not like the city in Texas.I would assume is might be like, South of Broadway or something like that. Like SoHo is south of Howard in Manhattan .
Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
The rendering of "Sobro" in Nashville. I like it a lot, but I think LPM works better with its more slender form, green glass, and elliptical shape. Has more of the iconic presence of a skyscraper despite only being 37 stories ( maybe because its set apart a bit from the other tall buildings downtown). For whatever reason, Sobro seems more like an infill project.

I also prefer LPM's tower shape to SoBro's, but I like that SoBro doesn't sit on a gigantic pedestal like LPM. It has a little bit of an "Oh hell. How are we going to fit this round tower on a rectangular parcel?" look to it. That's a small nit to pick, though, considering how huge an impact it's going to have on the MPLS skyline. Can't wait to see how it looks!

I do believe LPM will not appear so slender once it's done. Magical renderings hide the mass, its big, and fairly stout. Happy labor day!
