Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Sure wouldn't mind having that view in the first picture.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
It is an amazing view of the city. Although, just like at Target Field, Wells Fargo tower is blocked and the skyline doesn't look as full as it does when you are coming in on 35W from the north or south.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
But keep in mind the broad side of LPM faces downtown, and I have a feeling the view will vary quite a bit from one end to the other.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I agree with mamundsen, and in general the way the 3 tall towers downtown have such a close proximity that the view of them often times obsructs one or even two of them.

These people make me sick. One comment said good bye neighborhood. He might as well call downtown a small old Minnesota neighborhood. How dumb can people be? This is part of downtown, the big residential portion, where you build these, I don't get it.

I thought the same thing as I read the comments posted on the link. These people make me sick. One comment said good bye neighborhood. He might as well call downtown a small old Minnesota neighborhood. How dumb can people be? This is part of downtown, the big residential portion, where you build these, I don't get it.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Well one has to realize, stupid people are breeding more stupid people, and common sense is a gift nowadays that very few are born with.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I'm stunned there were so many negative comments, not that I'd put much faith in a few random Internet commentators. Still, people have their actual names showing and all - they must not realize how ignorant and closed-minded they sound, regardless of whether this really will rip apart the fragile fabric (sarcasm) that is Spruce Place. It's already dense and this was a surface lot. *Sigh*

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Not that I agree with the viewpoint, but I can t least understand the sentiment. LPM is actually separated from the rest of the downtown towers by a few blocks from the Loring Park towers and a whole lot more blocks from the CBD. It is kind of an outlier on the skyline. The area it's in is mostly smallish old apartment buildings and browstones. These people make me sick. One comment said good bye neighborhood. He might as well call downtown a small old Minnesota neighborhood. How dumb can people be? This is part of downtown, the big residential portion, where you build these, I don't get it.
Again, I love the project but it's not exactly in the middle of downtown.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Its a block from 110 Grant though, which is 350+, those people are just delusional.

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I'm not arguing that, just pointing out it isn't a downtown residential tower as some here have claimed. Its a block from 110 Grant though, which is 350+.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
True I see your point. Then it becomes an arguement of where to draw the line of what is considered reasonable to all. But for me, personally, I am happy that this project is now somewhat of an outlier because it sets precedent for more to be built further out. I just considered loring park still part of the true downtown.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Whether or not LPM is a downtown residential tower or not, the comments are stupid opinions. Loring park isn't a suburb. And this tower has a nice look to it. It's a good addition to the skyline, standing next to buildings within its height (300-375ft). You could build anything anywhere and no matter how good it looks or how beneficial it becomes, you'll still hear thousands of negative comments. I think Minneapolis was fortunate that this Chicago developer chose this city to build a great tower. Obviously this building will rent quickly.
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I lived in this neighborhood about 10 years ago. The thing I liked and still miss was the relatively eclectic mix of buildings and dwellers. I think LPM adds to that interesting mix. It's a sharp looking building, so I'm not understanding those negative comments either. That being said, I recently did a beer stop at that liquor store next to the gas station there, and mouthed a 'holy shit" under my breath looking up at that sucker. It is pretty colossal in context.

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
There's a simple solution if one thinks this tower sticks out too much: build more towers around it
Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
this is technically in the downtown neighborhood of Minneapolis. it's just not in the central business district. and it went on a surface parking lot, I'm sure that was doing a lot for the neighborhood that guy is saying goodbye to.

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
^Yes, AND it's a downtown neighborhood that already has a dozen or so highrises already in it, so in terms of "ruining the fabric of the neighborhood", this building does not.
