St. Louis Park - General Topics
Ribbon cutting on the restoration of the Minnehaha Creek between Methodist Hospital and the Japs Olson plant was today. I've been visiting it during the construction, and before the ribbon cutting. It is splendid to have this and I can't wait for the MCWD to finish their entire plan. This is directly to the north across Excelsior Blvd from Meadowbrook Golf Course and south of the Cedar Lake regional trail, a short dash down Louisiana Ave.
It is a nice peaceful pocket to explore.
Selfish note: I took my daughter and she caught the eye of the Strib photographer and appears in the story.

Council leaning towards more permissive rules for bars and breweries. Steel Toe looking to expand, for one, and another brewery is coming in West End soon.

Haven't heard about the brewery going into West End. Have a link to an article or even just the name of who is expanding???

It came from the article above.
Councilmember Tim Brausen said a brewery planned to open near the West End would like expanded taproom hours.

Hmm, they've been doing a lot of work to the old Ampac building on Parkdale Dr this year, so it makes me wonder if that's where this new brewery would open up. It's the perfect building for it. They blocked off the parking lot I would bike through from the Cedar Lake Trail, so I haven't been able to look in the building recently, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's it.

Remember this, from the very first post in this topic?
70 "townhomes" (actually rentals built in a rowhome style) split between the two non-contiguous sites. Not bad for these little fragments of freeway-adjacent MNDOT scraps.
Here's what a former TOLD executive is proposing for the two sites: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... -park.htmlWayzata & Texas development.
http://stlouispark.patch.com/articles/v ... nd-wayzata
"The parcels are owned by MnDOT and have been identified as "excess property" after a highway project. MnDOT is willing to sell the land to the city for development. Currently, the area is zoned residential, and at a Monday night City Council meeting, members said they'd probably like to keep it that way. So, expect some type of housing to go up."

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
With Bryn Mawr Brewing opening up a couple of miles away, we will likely have 3 decent options in the area. You could almost include the Herkimer and LynLake as nearby. Not quite the grouping of taprooms in Nordeast, but not bad.It came from the article above.Councilmember Tim Brausen said a brewery planned to open near the West End would like expanded taproom hours.

It appears the old Bennigan's on Wayzata Blvd has been sold. The for sale sign came down last week and the were doing some environmental sampling a few months back.

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
On September 16th the city's Planning Commission approved the Arlington Row West apartments at Texas Ave and Wayzata Blvd. The city council will vote on it next. This is the property bought by MNDoT during the 394 construction, later sold to the city, later sold to the developer. There was much public consternation over the traffic impact of the 52 parking spaces for residents and guests on Texas Avenue's 4,500 per day traffic count. One declared it would turn the corner into Uptown.

The demolition of the ARCA building, where the Appliance Mart was once located at the corner of Excelsior Blvd and Meadowbrook Road, is well underway.
Appliance Mart moved just down the road to Hopkins into a large warehouse building on Jackson Ave. N. across from the Cargill campus. And a reminder, Japs Olson bought the ARCA building to tear down to put up employee parking. Current employee parking is along Powell Road, this parking will go away with the plant expansion.

Hm. Many fond memories of that parking lot on Powell. Used it as a parade rehearsal space.Japs Olson bought the ARCA building to tear down to put up employee parking. Current employee parking is along Powell Road, this parking will go away with the plant expansion.
C'est la vie.
Gibb's first addition. If you know, you know.

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
These properties stay on the tax rolls, right?
Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
My guess it is not on Tribal land so yes it is still taxable. Don't think that either of the St. Paul hotels they bought went off the city/county tax rolls.
